Sadly, the Easiest Types of Cyberattacks Still Work

“If you saw this in a normal environment, it’d be a bad year,” said Bart Stump of the normal traffic they see over just a few days at the Black Hat conference.

Stump is one of the NOC (network operation center) leads at Black Hat and while they see a lot of nasty traffic, it’s not anything they haven’t seen before. It’s kind of meat and potatoes hacking.

“The same off the shelf stuff still works. Attackers use the path of least resistance,” said Grifter (@Grifter801), NOC lead, Black Hat.

Interviewing Bart and Grifter at the NOC is my favorite video I shoot every year at Black Hat. Watch the video for some of the insight from watching the nastiest traffic in the shortest period of time.
